HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Allicen Bouchard got the Mustangs on the board first, just 2:15 into the first period.
  • Halfway through the first, Clement tied the game at one, stepping around a defender, picking up a rebound off the end boards and jamming it past goaltender Maggie Jones.  Freshman Mathilde Couture took the initial slapshot from the point that resulted in Clement's goal and earned the assist.
  • Clement put the Roos on top 2-1 at 8:10 of the second period, tucking home a rebound to score her first power play goal of the year.  Couture and Lalonde picked up the assists.
  • The Mustangs picked up a power play goal of their own just four minutes later.  A point shot was deflected in front of the net, hit the post and came to rest in the crease.  Allie Davidson pounced on the rebound and snuck one past senior Sirena Alvarez to tie the game at two.
  • Both goalies came up with several big saves in the third period.  With just over five minutes remaining, freshman Jayme McIlveen was able to break loose and get a shot on Jones.  Lalonde was there for the rebound and tucked in the game-winner at 14:48 of the third.
  • The Mustangs would then pull Jones for an extra skater and the Roos took advantage, potting two empty net goals late in the period from Lalonde and junior Victoria McGarity to seal the victory 5-2.
