HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Buffalo State took the lead just over two minutes into the contest, with Sarich's shot from the point squeaking underneath the Morrisville goaltender's pads after a pair of solid passes from Tingley and Groh helped the Bengals break out from their own defensive zone.
  • The Mustangs took advantage of a Buffalo State penalty to knot the equalizer with just under half the period gone, with Hailee Easson scoring on a wrist shot from below the right faceoff circle.
  • The teams headed to the first intermission all square after an altercation resulted in a pair of game misconduct penalties, one for each side.
  • The score remained 1-1 into the second intermission, with Auge saving all 10 shots she faced in the second period.
  • Ursell netted a fabulous individual goal to restore the Buffalo State lead under four minutes into the third period, stealing the puck in the Morrisville zone, dangling past a defender, and ripping a wrist shot past the goalie's blocker side.
  • Another Buffalo State resulted in the tying goal with 9:40 remaining in regulation, a wrist shot from Rhys Brown on the power play.
  • Neither team was able to find a winning goal over the final minutes, and the game headed to a 3-on-3 sudden-victory overtime period.
  • Each team registered a few chances in overtime, before Allie Davidson stole the puck in the Bengals' defensive zone, fed a pass to Olsen out front, who wristed home from close range with 1:26 left on the clock.
