Cortland blanks Connecticut College 4-0

NEW LONDON, CONN. – Sophomore goalie Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) registered 15 saves to set a program single-season record with her sixth shutout as the Cortland women's ice hockey team skated to a 4-0 victory at Connecticut College Tuesday night in non-conference action.

Graduate student Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) led Cortland (13-4) with two goals and an assist. Freshman Ainsley Delacourt (Stoney Creek, ON/Brampton Canadettes) recorded a goal and an assist, sophomore Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) netted a goal, graduate student Emil Kromer (Angola/Nazareth College) and senior Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) each collected two assists and sophomore Beth McArthur (Peterborough, ON/Lawrence University) added an assist.

Eun-Bee Huh started in goal for the Camels (8-7), making nine saves in 44:02 before giving way to Devon Galizio, who stopped two shots over the final 15:58.

After a scoreless first period in which the teams combined for just nine shots on goal, with the Camels holding a 6-3 edge, Schnorr netted her first goal of the night at the 4:58 mark of the second period. Delacourt sent a cross-ice pass from the left side to Schnorr who skated to the blue line and lifted a shot over the right shoulder of Huh and into the top left corner. With time winding down in the period, Schnorr knocked in a loose puck at 19:21 after Kromer intercepted the puck below the end line and fed a pass in front.

Delacourt put Cortland ahead, 3-0, at 3:39 of the third period, scoring on a wrist shot from the left circle. Just 23 seconds later, Hlasnick made it a 4-0 game when she scored off her own rebound on a breakaway after pushing the puck past a Camel defender near the blue line.

Goergen stopped five shots in the final period to set the program record she previously shared with Chelsea Allain.
