Cortland blasts Stevenson 8-1, completes weekend sweep

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally 14th-ranked Cortland women's ice hockey team completed a non-conference weekend sweep of Stevenson with an 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 2-0, while the Mustangs fell to 2-2.

Senior Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) led Cortland with two goals and one assist. Sophomore Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) tallied a goal and two assists, and sophomore Meggan Cramer (Cicero/Northwood School) cored a goal and collected an assist. Junior Kait Bourgeois (Cobden, ON/Ottawa Thunder) and sophomore Natalie O'Brien (Buffalo/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each added a goal, while freshmen Hayley Hunter (Pulasli/NAHA) and Fanny Aneborn (Linkoping, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden) netted their first career goals.

Junior Jillian Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) picked up a game-high three assists for the Red Dragons. Freshman AInsley Delacourt (Stoney Creek, ON/Brampton Canadettes) collected two assists, and graduate students Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights), Emily Kromer (Angola/Nazareth College) and Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) recorded one assist apiece. Junior goalie Anna Hamid (Mineola/New Jersey Colonials) made 12 saves.

Junior Franki Cappello (Bradenton, FL/Gilmour Academy) scored Stevenson's goal with junior Katelyn Reid (York, PA/Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) assisting on the goal. Junior Ainsley King (Peterborough, NH/Hebron Academy) started in goal, making 35 saves in 33:16 before giving way to sophomore Olivia DeGuire (Jericho/Ironbound) who stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced in 26:44.
