Oswego, NY – Freshman Danielle Goner tied the game in the first period on her third score of the season but host Oswego State netted a pair of third period goals to earn a 3-1 Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) win on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ashlyn McGrath put the hosts up 1-0 at the 6:46 mark of the opening period.
- The Roos knotted the game at one apiece on Goner's third goal and seventh point of her rookie season.
- Oswego outshot the Roos 14-3 in the opening period but 13 saves from Sirena Alvarez kept Canton within striking distance.
- The Lakers once again dominated shots 11-3 in the second period but Alvarez shut out the Lakers to keep the game knotted after 40 minutes.
- Kyleigh Grugin broke the tie at 2:03 of the third period and Ariella Haas added an insurance marker with just over seven minutes remaining for the 3-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Alvarez had a strong outing between the pipes making 36 saves including at least 11 in each period.
- Joanna Hiebert was credited with six saves on seven shots for the Lakers.
- The Roos were 0-for-1 on the power play but killed off all three of their penalties.
