Donegan's 5-point day gives Red Dragons 8-0 win over Morrisville

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) recorded a career-high five points on a goal and a career-best four assists to lead the Cortland women's ice hockey team to an 8-0 win versus Morrisville St. Saturday afternoon in NEWHL action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 13-3 overall and 8-3 in the league, while the Mustangs fell to 4-13-1 and 2-10-1.

Sophomore Kait Bourgeois (Cobden, ON/Ottawa Thunder) netted a pair of goals, and senior Emily Kromer (Angola/Nazareth College) and freshmen Meggan Cramer (Cicero/Northwood School) and Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each tallied a goal and an assist. Graduate student Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Vipers) and junior Molly McCabe (Webster/Webster H.S. Boys) scored a goal, senior Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights) collected two assists and graduate student Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) and sophomore Jillian Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each chipped in with an assist.

Freshman goalie Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) made 13 saves for the Red Dragons in recording her third shutout of the season. Freshman goalie Emma Plett (Grunthal, MB/Eastman Selects) registered 38 saves for the Mustangs.

Cortland built a 3-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes as McCabe, Kromer and Bourgeois each scored. The lead grew to 6-0 after two periods with Hlasnick, DeVoe and Cramer picking up goals. Bourgeois added her second of the game to make it a 7-0 score, and Donegan completed the scoring with 7:08 remaining for the 8-0 final.
