Canton, NY – Scarlett Ditoro scored a pair of goals and Sirena Alvarez recorded her third shutout of the season as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team earned a 4-0 shutout win v. Wilkes University in non-conference game on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos got on the board first at 6:01 of the opening period. Ditoro put home the rebound off a Danielle Goner shot from the point. Iida Laitinen also picked up an assist on Ditoro's first career goal.
- Canton held a 19-1 shots on goal advantage in the opening period but Addy Olson made 18 saves to keep Wilkes within one after 20 minutes.
- The hosts doubled the lead at 11:55 of the middle period. Gracyn Emmerton fired a shot from the high slot and the rebound went right to Ditoro who lifted a shot past Olson for her second straight goal. Laitinen was also credited with an assist on the play.
- Canton made it 3-0 at 17:39 of the second period with four seconds left in a 4-on-4. Makayla Young fed the puck up to Desiree Snook as she entered the offensive zone on a 2-on-0 breakaway. Snook fed Sarah Kosnaskie cross ice and her shot was saved beautifully by Olson but Kosnaskie buried the rebound.
- The Roos held a 15-5 shots on goal advantage in the second period and a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard after 40 minutes.
- Canton concluded the scoring at 17:59 of the third period when Halle McKinnon jammed home a rebound out in front. Maggie Convery and Emmerton, who also had initial shots that were stopped by Olson, picked up helpers on the play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- SUNY Canton owned a 55-9 advantage in shots and a 36-24 edge in faceoffs.
- Both teams went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
- Ditoro paced the Roos with two goals, while Emmerton and Laitinen added two assists each.
- Sirena Alvarez finished with nine saves in her third shutout of the season.
- Olson turned aside 51 shots for the Colonels.
