CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's ice hockey team defeated Arcadia University, 4-1, Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 7-2 with the win, while the Knights, in their first year of varsity competition, fell to 1-8.

Graduate student Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) led Cortland with two goals. Junior Molly McCabe (Webster/Webster Schroeder H.S. Boys) and freshman Meggan Cramer (Cicero/Northwood School) each added a goal. Seniors Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights), Quinn Metcalfe (Churchville/Rochester Monarchs) and Kirsten MacDowell (Ottsville, PA/New Jersey Rockets) and sophomore Nicole Tulowiecki (Phoenix/Syracuse Nationals) recorded one assist apiece. Freshman goalie Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) made nine saves.

Freshman Berklee Hibbard (Salt Lake City, UT) scored Arcadia's goal with freshmen Hannah O'Rourke (Conshohocken, PA) and Drew Kuretsky (Inver Grove Heights, MN) assisting. Freshman goalie Hannah Bergeron (Leominster, MA) registered 57 saves.

McCabe gave Cortland a 1-0 lead at 6:55 of the first period, scoring through traffic from the left point after a Knights turnover. Shortly after, Arcadia successfully killed off 1:05 of a Cortland two-player advantage to keep the game at 1-0. Schnorr netted her 10th goal of the season 3:19 before the end of the period for a 2-0 Red Dragon lead, taking a pass from Gaffney inside the blue line and snapping a shot inside the left post.

Cramer gave Cortland a 3-0 lead at 7:33 of the second period, knocking in a rebound on a loose puck in front. Schnorr's 11th goal of the season came just 48 seconds into the third period after MacDowell kept the puck in the offensive zone at the left point. The Knights spoiled the shutout bid on the power play with seven seconds remaining as Hibbard sent a shot through traffic from inside the blue line for the 4-1 final.

The same teams meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m.
