Morrisville, NY – Micayla MacInytre and Iida Laitinen each scored first period goals to lead the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 2-2 overtime tie in a Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) game at Morrisville State on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MacIntyre recorded her second goal of the season off a pass from Karena Barrett at 3:45 of the opening period to give the Roos an early lead.
- Laitinen doubled the Canton advantage at 13:38 of the first as she converted her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Victoria McGarrity was credited with an assist on the power play goal.
- Morrisville got within one scoring with the skater advantage at 13:55 of the second period.
- Rhys Brown would tie the game for the Mustangs at 13:35 of the third period.
- The Roos held a slim 5-4 shots advantage in overtime but the teams would settle for a tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- MacIntyre and Brianna Medved led Canton with +1 on-ice ratings.
- Sirena Alvarez made 28 saves in the tie as she and the Roos remain unbeaten at 3-0-1 on the season.
- Morrisville held a slim 30-28 advantage in shots and a 38-24 edge in face offs.
- Canton went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Morrisville was 1-for-6.
