Red Dragons blank Lebanon Valley 5-0

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) tied the single-season goal record at Cortland with a pair of scores and added an assist to lead the Cortland women's ice hockey team to a 5-0 non-conference home win versus Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons, who clinched a NEWHL playoff berth with their win at Oswego on Wednesday, improved to 13-8-3, while the Dutchmen dropped to 6-17-1.

Junior Emily King (Buffalo.Buffalo Regals), sophomore Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Flames) and freshman Quinn Metcalfe (Churchville/Rochester Monarchs) each recorded a goal and an assist for Cortland. Freshman Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights) registered two assists, and sophomore Kirsten MacDowell (Ottsville, PA/New Jersey Rockets) and freshman Johna Ezzard (Vienna, VA/Dallas Stars Elite) collected one assist apiece.

Senior goalie Victoria Gibson (Essex Junction, VT/Vermont Shamrocks) made nine saves in posting her second shutout of the season for Cortland. Junior goalie Jillian Moffat (Owen Sound, ON/Northern Cyclones) turned aside 69 shots for the Dutchmen.

Cortland took a 3-0 lead after the first period. Schnorr started the scoring with a one-timer just 2:17 into the game. Quinn made it a 2-0 game at 14:41 with a wrist shot from the left circle, and DeVoe knocked in a loose puck at 19:06 to put the Red Dragons ahead 3-0.

King scored on the rebound at 13:57 of the second period before Schnorr's second goal of the game, her record-tying 14th of the season, 35 seconds into the third period completed the scoring.

The same two teams meet Sunday at 2 p.m. to close out the regular season.
