Songin scored 2:09 into the game to put the Cardinals on the board early, as Unsworth took a shot that was saved before Songin collected the puck along the back wall. Songin came out in front of the goal along the left post and backhanded a shot glove side past the Bengal goaltender. Tsukimoto also had an assist on the play.

Katonka netted her first goal of the game exactly three minutes later on the power play, as sophomore defenseman Erin McArdle (Macomb, Mich./Belle Tire) wristed a shot from the slot that was saved before Katonka banged in the rebound. Unsworth was also credited with an assist.

Unsworth scored unassisted with 6:02 gone in the first, intercepting a Bengal pass along the end boards behind the Buffalo State goal, coming out from behind the goal line along the left post and wrapping a shot around the goaltender that crossed the goal line low glove side.

Millen added to the lead at 7:41 of the second. Freshman defenseman Sierra Benjamin (Palm Coast, Fla./Northwood School) carried the puck into the Bengal zone before freshman forward Taylor Whitney (Livonia, Mich./Little Caesars) gained possession behind the goal line. Whitney took a shot that was turned aside with a pad save by sophomore goaltender Bri Gawronski, and after the rebound trickled to the back wall, Millen took control. Millen skated out in front of the net and took a shot high glove side that banged off the bottom of the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Katonka buried her second power-play marker of the game with 15:37 elapsed in the second period, one-timing a pass from senior forward Courtney Moriarty (Estero, Fla./Northfield Mount Hermon) that deflected off Gawronski and went past the goal line. Unsworth also earned an assist on the goal.

Finally, Tsukimoto closed out scoring with a power-play goal 10:32 into the third. Songin centered a pass to Millen in the slot, and Millen touched the puck briefly before a Bengal stick redirected it to Tsukimoto. Tsukimoto then scored high glove side from inside the left face-off circle.
