BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sophomore Katie DeVoe (Mississauga/Vaughan Flames) scored the game-tying goal late in regulation, and sophomore goalie Chelsea Allain (Saratoga/Canterbury School) stopped a penalty shot in overtime as the Cortland women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon in NEWHL action.

DeVoe's goal was her team-high fourth of the season, assisted by junior Emily King (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) and freshman Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights. Allain, making her first start of the season, finished the game with 27 saves for the Red Dragons (2-5-3, 0-5-3 NEWHL).

Emma Ruggiero scored for the Bengals (3-4-2, 2-3-1) with Madeline Kromer and Lila Toczek assisting on the goal. Goalie Bri Gawronski made 34 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Ruggiero gave the Bengals a 1-0 lead just 44 seconds into the second period on her fourth goal in the two-game series. With time winding down in the third period, Cortland pulled Allain for an extra skater with 2:05 remaining in regulation, and the move paid off as DeVoe netted the tying goal at the 18:50 mark.

In overtime, a Buffalo St. player was taken down on a breakaway opportunity 2:02 into the five-minute period, but Allain denied Olivia Smith on the ensuing penalty shot to preserve the tie.
