CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior goalie Victoria Gibson (Essex Junction, VT/Vermont Shamrocks) made 13 saves to earn her second career shutout and three different players netted a goal as the Cortland women's ice hockey team defeated Neumann University, 3-0, Saturday afternoon to sweep the two-game weekend series. The Red Dragons improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Knights dropped to 0-2.

Senior Samantha Pippin (Allen Park, MI/Team Detroit) led Cortland with a goal and an assist. Junior Allyson Edwards (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) scored the game-winning goal, and freshman Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights) tallied her second goal of the season. Junior Emily Rose (Clayton/Syracuse Nationals) picked up an assist, while freshmen Quinn Metcalfe (Churchville/Rochester Monarchs) and Kiersten Konrardy (Oviedo, FL/Hoosac School) each recorded her first career point with an assist.

Junior goalie Helen Cooney (Doylestown, PA/Walpole Express) registered 41 saves for Neumann.

After a scoreless first period, Edwards tallied her first goal of the season with a wrist shot through a screen at 15:37 of the second period. Gaffney made it a 2-0 game at 18:05 of the period, deflecting a pass from Rose past Cooney on the power play. Pippin completed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 17:08 of the third period, knocking in her own rebound for her second goal of the season.
