Oswego, Plymouth State settle for 3-3 tie

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team tied Plymouth State, 3-3, in overtime on Wednesday night. With the tie, the Lakers move to 7-8-1 on the season, while Plymouth State moves to 4-7-4 overall.
 
After Plymouth State scored seven minutes into the first period, Oswego answered four minutes later. Laura Thacker picked up her first goal of the season, assisted by Leah Czerwinski and Kate Randazzo. Randazzo's assist was her tenth of the season, a team-high.
 
In the second period, the Lakers tacked on two more goals. First, freshman Emma Morisette gave the Lakers a 2-1 advantage when she scored just over 7:30 into the period. Eryn Stewart collected her fourth assist of the season on the goal.
 
Then, Oswego extended its lead a few minutes later. Leading Laker goal-scorer Andrea Noss notched her sixth goal of the season, while Thacker and Czerwinski each earned another point on the night for their assists.
 
The Panthers managed to pull within one of the Lakers near the end of the second period, and tied the game with a power-play goal nine minutes into the third to force overtime.
 
In overtime, Oswego won all three of its face-offs and took two shots, but neither team was able to score. The Lakers outshot the Panthers 40-20 on the night.
 
Mariah Madrigal played all 65 minutes in the net for the Lakers, making 17 saves.
 
The teams will face off again at Plymouth at 4 p.m. on Thursday for the Lakers' final nonconference game of the season.
