Plattsburgh's Benjamin, Krauseneck Earn All-American honors

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior defenseman Sierra Benjamin (Palm Coast, Fla./Northwood School) and graduate student forward Sara Krauseneck (Saginaw, Mich./Northern Cyclones) from the Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team have been named 2022-23 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-Americans, as announced Thursday by the AHCA.
 
Benjamin was named to the All-America First Team, while Krauseneck was selected to the All-America Second Team. This marks the second AHCA All-America honor for both Benjamin and Krauseneck, as both earned Second-Team All-America distinction last year.
 
Benjamin, who is also a two-time First-Team All-NEWHL selection, leads the NEWHL in assists with 24 and has the most points this year among defensemen in the NEWHL with 28 on five goals and 23 assists. She also ranks second on the team in blocked shots with 29. Benjamin has achieved multiple points on eight occasions this season and owns 87 career points to her credit on 12 goals and 75 assists. She currently ranks fourth in program history in career points among defensemen.
 
Krauseneck, a three-time First-Team All-NEWHL honoree and two-time NEWHL Tournament MVP, has recorded 137 career points on 62 goals and 75 assists during her four years in a Cardinal uniform. Krauseneck leads the NEWHL in points with 40 in addition to ranking second in goals (20) and fourth in assists (20), and her +29 rating is tied for second in the league. She enters this weekend riding an 11-game point streak and has had 13 games this season with two or more points.
 
Plattsburgh State (26-2-0, 17-1-0 NEWHL) squares off with Gustavus Adolphus College in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at Amherst College's Orr Rink.
