Schnorr's hat-trick, 5 power play goals pace Cortland by Neumann 8-2

ASTON, PA. – The Cortland women's ice hockey team converted five power-play chances and defeated Neumann University, 8-2, Saturday afternoon to complete a two-game non-conference weekend sweep. The Red Dragons raised their record to 9-3-1. The Knights dropped to 7-7.

Junior Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) led Cortland with three goals. Junior Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Flames) and freshman Jayden Kelley (East Berne/CP Dynamo) each recorded one goal and one assist, while juniors Kirsten MacDowell (Ottsville, PA/New Jersey Rockets) and Olivia Wilburn (Stockton, CA/San Jose Sharks) and freshman Elena Eichmann (Fairport/Syracuse Nationals) netted one goal apiece.

Freshman Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) registered three assists for the Red Dragons. Senior Emily Rose (Chaumont/Syracuse Nationals) contributed two assists, and seniors Emily King (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) and sophomore Johna Ezzard (Vienna, VA/Dallas Stars Elite) picked one assist.

Junior goalie Chelsea Allain (Malta/Canterbury School) made 16 saves before giving way to sophomore Emily Steen (Windom, MN/Windom H.S.), who stopped three shots in 6:10.

Georgia Wunder and Heather Levy tallied goals for Neumann. Mikaylee Hanhawk and Braeden Ott each collected an assist. Goalie Helen Cooney registered 22 saves through the first two periods and Alexa Lamplugh turned aside 11 shots over the final 20 minutes.

DeVoe gave Cortland a 1-0 lead with the Red Dragons' first power-play goal of the game 58 seconds before the end of the first period. Cortland built a 5-0 advantage after two periods as Schnorr scored twice and Kelley and Eichmann each netted goals. MacDowell made it a 6-0 game with a power-play goal 8:44 into the third period before Wunder's player-advantage goal put Neumann on the scoreboard. Schnorr completed her hat trick on a six-on-four at 12:56, and Wilburn followed with a power-play goal 56 seconds later to make it an 8-1 game. Levy completed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 16:44 for the 8-2 final.
