MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville dropped a back and forth Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) battle with the Lakers from Oswego on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3.

THE BASICS

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

• The Mustangs picked up the first goal of the game just over two and a half minutes into the first period when Tessa Dobson (Moose Factory, Ont.) re-directed a Taylor Finnie (Kamloops, B.C.) shot from the point.
• However, just over thirty seconds later, the Lakers responded with a re-direct goal of their own to set up what would ultimately a back and forth affair.
• Knotted up at one goal apiece, Oswego State took a one goal advantage as Philomena Teggart ripped a bullet from the point at the 1:31 mark in the second period.
• While it was not immediate, the Mustangs would respond later in the second period when Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) tied the score at 2-2 with a breakaway at the 8:22 mark in the second.
• McDonald's line would strike again just under two minutes later to give the Mustangs the 3-2 advantage.  Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, B.C.) notched the goal, while McDonald and Mackenzie Lombardi (Hamilton, Ont.) provided the assists.
• Morrisville seemed destined to add to that total as Oswego picked up a tripping penalty four seconds later.  Unfortunately, the Mustangs' lead would be short lived as the Lakers picked off a Morrisville pass and found the back of the net for a short-handed strike to even the score at three goals each.
• Teggart gave Oswego State the 4-3 advantage at the 17:03 mark.
• After a wild second period, action quieted down for both sides in the third as neither team was able to put more than seven shots on net.
• Morrisville would have a chance later in the third period to tie the game when Oswego was called for an interference penalty at the 14:38 mark.  The Lakers though were able to run their penalty kill to near perfection, allowing Morrisville to only take one shot on net during the power play to preserve the 4-3 win.
