Red Dragons erase 3-0 deficit, rally for a tie at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Cortland women's ice hockey team scored three unanswered goals in the third period to erase a 3-0 deficit to earn a 3-3 overtime tie at Oswego Saturday afternoon in NEWHL action.

Junior Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) led the Red Dragons (4-1-1 overall, 4-1-1 NEWHL) with a goal and an assist. Seniors Emily King (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) and Emily Rose (Chaumont/Syracuse Nationals) netted one goal each, and junior Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Flames), sophomore Johna Ezzard (Vienna, VA/Dallas Stars Elite) and freshmen Elena Eichmann (Fairport/Syracuse Nationals), Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) and Molly McCabe (Webster/Webster Thomas H.S. Boys) collected one assist apiece. Junior goalie Chelsea Allain (Malta/Canterbury School) made 24 saves.

Kate Randazzo and Amber Thomas recorded a goal and an assist for the Lakers (3-2-1, 1-2-1 NEWHL). Emily Gustafson netted a goal, Eryn Stewart registered two assists and Morgan Shines and Bailey Thomas chipped in with one assist apiece. Goalie Rachael  Farmer stopped 21 shots.

Oswego built a 3-0 lead just before the midway point of the third period. Thomas opened the scoring at 6:57 of the first period, Randazzo netted a power-play goal at 10:55 of the second period and Gustafson scored at 9:27 of the third period.

Rose started the Cortland comeback with her first goal of the season at 12:07 of the third. King's power-play goal at 15:54 cut the Red Dragons' deficit to 3-2, and Schnorr sent the game into overtime with her team-high fifth goal of the season at 17:16.

Oswego held a 2-1 advantage in shots in the five-minute extra period as the game ended at 3-3.
