PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The No. 1 Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team set the NCAA Division III record for home winning streak with its 29th consecutive victory at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, as the Cardinals defeated Oswego State, 3-0, to complete a Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) weekend sweep of the Lakers on Saturday. Plattsburgh State's streak began on Dec. 1, 2017, with an 8-0 win over SUNY Potsdam.

Gustavus Adolphus College held the previous mark of 28 consecutive home wins, which it set from Dec. 13, 2011-Nov. 8, 2013.

The Cardinals did all their damage in the first period, scoring all three goals in the opening 10 minutes of play. From there on out, a stout penalty kill and strong goaltending by freshman Chloe Beaubien (Colorado Springs, Colo./Ontario Hockey Academy) helped Plattsburgh State hold on for a 3-0 victory. Beaubien earned a shutout in her first regular-season collegiate appearance and also picked up her first collegiate win, making 19 saves to move to 1-0-0. Senior goaltender Rachael Farmer (2-2-0) turned aside 38 shots in the loss for Oswego.

Sophomore forward Sara Krauseneck (Saginaw, Mich./Northern Cyclones) was the lone Cardinal with multiple points, scoring a power-play goal and adding an assist.

Plattsburgh State rises to 5-0-0 overall (4-0-0 NEWHL) with the victory and stretches its overall winning streak to 23. The Cardinals next visit SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. Oswego slips to 2-2-0 overall (0-2-0 NEWHL) with the loss and next hosts Buffalo State on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.

Junior forward Abby Brush (Mount Prospect, Ill./Chicago Young Americans) put the Cardinals on the board at 3:15 of the first period. Junior defenseman Emma Killeen (Watertown, Conn./The Gunnery) got control of the puck on an defensive-zone face-off and sprung freshman forward Ivy Boric (Newport Beach, Calif./Anaheim Lady Ducks) forward along the right boards. Boric sent a cross-ice pass to Brush, and on the rush, Brush skated just in front of the crease and scored low stick side for her first goal of the season.

Junior forward Annie Katonka (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Penguins Elite) netted her fourth marker of the year at 7:43 of the first. Krauseneck intercepted a Laker pass just outside the blue line of the offensive zone, and she skated to the bottom of the left circle before centering a pass out in front to Katonka. Katonka then poked a one-timer through the five-hole in the low slot.

Krauseneck scored her fifth goal of the season on the power play with 9:41 elapsed in the first to provide what wound up being the game's final tally. Sophomore forward Taylor Whitney (Livonia, Mich./Little Caesars) skated behind the Lakers' goal and cycled the puck to junior defenseman Erin McArdle (Macomb, Mich./Belle Tire) at the bottom of the left circle. McArdle sent the puck toward the net, which Krauseneck redirected into the back of the goal from the low slot. It marked McArdle's sixth assist of the season, which ranks second in NCAA Division III.

Plattsburgh State went 1-for-5 on the power play and killed off six Laker power-play opportunities, which included 1:15 of a 5-on-3 chance.
