Cardinals finish atop USCHO.com, D3hockey.com polls

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team finished as the consensus No. 1 team in both the USCHO.com Division III Women's Top-10 Poll and the D3hockey.com Women's Top-10 Poll, as announced Monday by both organizations. The Cardinals received 150 points and all 15 first-place votes in both polls.

Plattsburgh State punctuated its 2018-19 season with 18 consecutive wins, which included four in the NCAA Division III Tournament en route to its seventh national title and its fifth in six years. The Cardinals were 29-2-0 overall, tying a program record for wins in a season, and continued to gain momentum as the NCAA Tournament progressed. After surviving Endicott College, 3-2, in overtime in the first round and edging Williams College, 5-3, in the quarterfinals, Plattsburgh State downed Adrian College, 4-1, in the semifinals before blanking Hamline University, 4-0, in the championship game.
 
The Cardinals also captured the 2019 Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) title, their second in the two-year history of the league.
