Plattsburgh draws Endicott in NCAA Division III Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS – The Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team, the automatic qualifier out of the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL), will host Endicott College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday, March 6, at 5 p.m. at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, as announced Monday by the NCAA. Endicott earned the automatic bid out of the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC).
 
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students with valid identification and senior citizens, $3 for children between the ages of 3-12 and free for children 2 years old and under. The Field House box office will open at 3:30 p.m. the day of the game.

This will mark the Cardinals' 15th NCAA Tournament appearance and the Gulls' first. Plattsburgh State is chasing its seventh overall NCAA Division III title in program history.
 
Plattsburgh State enters the tournament at 25-2-0 overall, while Endicott is 19-4-4. This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs, as Endicott began its first season of varsity competition in 2015-16.

The winner of the Plattsburgh State-Endicott game will play the winner of the first-round contest between Williams College and Norwich University on Saturday, March 9, in the quarterfinal round at the site of the highest-remaining seed.

Plattsburgh State won the second NEWHL title in the two-year history of the league on Saturday, defeating SUNY Cortland, 5-0, in the NEWHL Tournament championship game.
