Cortland blanks Nichols 3-0 in non-league victory

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Sophomore Chelsea Allain (Saratoga/Canterbury School) made 30 saves in posting her second shutout of the season as the Cortland women's ice hockey team defeated Nichols College, 3-0, Saturday night in non-conference play. The Red Dragons improved to 6-5-3 on the season, while the Bison dropped to 8-4-3.

Sophomore Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars) increased her team lead to nine goals with a pair in the game for Cortland. Sophomore Kirsten MacDowell (Ottsville, PA/New Jersey Rockets) scored her first goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner. Juniors Allyson Edwards (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) and Emily Rose (Clayton/Syracuse Nationals) each chipped in with an assist.

Goalie Abby Bassett registered 24 saves for Nichols.

MacDowell put Cortland ahead, 1-0, with a power-play goal at 17:57 of the first period. Schnorr made it a 2-0 game, netting a short-handed goal at 13:38 of the second period and completed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 18:41 of the third period for the 3-0 final.
