BUFFALO, N.Y.— Buffalo State earns first-ever Northeast Women's Hockey League victory with a 3-1 win over Potsdam in its home-opener on Friday tonight.

- Potsdam opened up the scoring in the second minute with a one-timer.
- Buffalo State got on the board in the eighth minute when Bri Carroll (Peoria, AZ/AZ Virtual Academy) collected a rebound off the initial shot from Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, NY/Nardin). Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIH Academy (ON)) added an assist.
- The first period would end with a 1-1 score, with Potsdam holding a slight 10-8 lead in shots.
- Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/Wyoming Seminary) gave the Bengals the lead early in the second period with a breakaway goal set up by Kira Herkey (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga). Caitie Hovatits (Elma, NY/Iroquois) picked up a second assist.
- Buffalo State finished out its scoring with 1:28 left in the period, when Emma Ruggiero (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart) hammered home a rebound to give the Bengals a 3-1 lead. Lila Toczek (N. Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint) and Georgia Kleiner (Pelham, NY/Rye Country Day) recorded assists.
- Goalie Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) made 23 saves to pick up the win in net for the Bengals
